Drexel TPED attends ASTM F24
Last week, two of our members attended their first ASTM Committee F24 on Amusement Rides and Devices meeting, held in New Orleans.
ASTM F24 is a safety conference specifically for the theme park industry where competition is put aside and the intention is to standardize safety procedures. Students are able to attend for free and are encouraged to participate throughout the conference.
Our two members spent their time conversing with industry professionals, listening to them determine the best safety practices. They also contributed to the writing of standards for the Perception Altering Experiences and VR/AR task groups, utilizing their Drexel education.
While there, they met up with Drexel alumni, explored the New Orleans area, and learned a lot about the safety and legal aspects of the theme park industry.
Because our club recognizes both the importance of safety and the educational value of an event like this, we do make an effort to participate in this conference every year, sending members like these two!
